The Bachelor Program in Computer Engineering aims at providing training for future computer engineers.   This professional must evidence a wide knowledge on Information Systems and Technologies, its potentials, limitations and comparative advantages; must be able to make use of the advantages offered by computer technologies and to integrate them so as to design high quality and usability solutions.

Computer Engineers are highly specialized technicians; they are experts in the technology at the basis of the Information Society; they master the tools and technologies of Information Systems (IS) and the skills to integrated the different elements of the computing structure and the sizes of their infrastructure; they are able to integrate them so as to design integrated and integrating technology-based solutions.

The constant development of Information Systems support solutions and the possibilities these provide have resulted in the Program in Computer Engineering focusing on distributed environments and their supports, namely distributed networks and systems, development languages and environments.

A Computer Engineer is a crucial element for the planning and development of infrastructures in Information Systems and Information Technologies, when implementation requires integration of different data sources and support systems, since this professional is par excellence the strategist of Information Systems integrated solutions

A Computer Engineer needs to acquire a wide knowledge of Information Systems and Technologies, on its potentials, limitations and comparative advantages; to be able to make use of the advantages offered by computer technologies and to integrate them so as to design high quality and usability solutions.  The Information Society requires a deep knowledge of technical solutions for global, distributed and easily disseminated solutions.  Mastering Internet networks and technologies is essential, as is the knowledge regarding the management of distributed systems and of security issues.

A Computer Engineer must be able to analyse, plan and implement integrated and integrating solutions, assess costs and benefits of different solution developments; must be leader, have good communication skills, be autonomous and flexible and be able to manage projects and teams.  A Computer Engineer must be able to adapt to the constant development of tools, perspectives and business demands
