Isabel Fernandes Silva holds a PhD in English Philology by the U. of Salamanca and a Bachelor in English and German by the Faculty of Arts, ULisboa, as well as advanced training in Computer-assisted Translation Tools and Text Editing by the Universidad de Tarragona, and in Teaching English with Technology, by Trinity College, UK and the consultants-e.

She has been a lecturer of English and Translation at Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa since 1986 and currently teaches Visual Communication and Communication and Culture in Portuguese in the Communication Sciences Department, as well as coordinates the Post-graduation in Translation and the courses on Portuguese language for foreign-language speakers.

She has published a book – The British Abroad in E. M. Forster’s Fiction – and several papers on translation, multimodality, and technology-enhanced learning, is a reviewer in several international journals and is a member of the European Translation Society.
