José Guilherme Victorino holds a Bachelor in History, a postgraduation in Communications Consultancy by Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, where he is auxiliary professor in the Communication Sciences Department. He holds a PhD by the Faculty of Information Sciences, Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2007), with a thesis on political propaganda entitled Um Instrumento de Consenso no Estado Novo: “Panorama, revista portuguesa de arte e turismo” (1941-1949). He has published several papers on political and cultural propaganda in the era of the dictator Salazar. He is integrated researcher at CEIS20, Centro de Estudos Interdisciplinares do Século XX, University of Coimbra. He has participated in meeting and conferences at NOVA, Universidad de Extremadura, Instituto de Ciências Sociais, Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo do Estoril, Sociedade de Geografia, do IGESPAR, the National Library, Arquivo Nacional Torre do Tombo, Associação Casa Veva de Lima, Fundação Portuguesa das Comunicações, Rádio Renascença and RTP2. He started his career in advertising at Young & Rubicam and was responsible for the Communication Offices of Unisys Portugal and JCL Fujitsu Portugal. He was a jury member of the Cannes Lions Advertising awards. He is a member of the Consulting Boards at Fundação António Quadros. A member of the Scientific Council at UAL. He has been a member of C.E.U. – Cooperativa de Ensino Universitário, since 1986.
